Introduction to Foundation Paper Piecing

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

What is Foundation Paper Piecing? aka FPP?

If you are asking that question you are on the dangerous path my friend and you are about to cross to the dark side and there is no turning back....

"Why?" you may ask, and the answer you gonna get from anybody who is already on this side will be always the same: "Coz it's very addictive!"

It's hard to stop once you start and the reason is: it's very simple yet so satisfying!

The paper provides foundation to the fabric and gives you lines to follow while stitching, so the result is always amazing! Even if you are a beginner!

It's easy to follow method, you simply follow the numbers in order to achieve the required design.

If you have never tried FPP before please walk with me through couple of exercises before jumping onto deep waters (cos I know you will!)

First: download pdf patterns and print 2 pages of each pattern.

Then, watch short tutorial videos how to join the pieces together. The patterns are design to slowly introduce you to the method of foundation paper piecing so you will get the idea of how it works quite quickly.

You will need:

1. some scrap fabrics of cotton or polycotton to work with,

2. self healing mat and rotary cutter are really good friends here, but it's doable with pair of scissors,

3. quarter ruler or any other quilting ruler

Are you ready? Let's do this!

😎

First print the pdf pattern!

Then watch the video!

How did it go for you?

I bet you want more!
